The Rules of the Game
The rules of Predict a Score are very simple. There aren’t many and the below list covers them all. You should be familiar with them all.
Each week predictions are posted on this website, consisting of Premiership, Championship, League 1 and League 2 (and sometime the Conference) matches. There are 11 matches in total. All you have to do is predict the final score of each match after 90 minutes. Points are awarded for the matches as follows:
Point Scoring:
Correct Score = 3 points - You predicted the score correctly after 90 minutes, i.e. The home team wins 2-1 and you predicted a 2-1 home win.
Correct Result = 1 point - You predicted the result correctly but not the score, i.e. The game ends in a 0-0 draw and you predicted 1-1, or the home team win 3-1 and you predicted a 2-0 home win etc.
Incorrect = 0 point - You failed to predict either the score or the result correctly.
Bonus Point Scoring:
Double Point Scoring - Every week when you submit your predictions you will be asked to select a match from the 11 chosen to be your Double Point Match. Any points you receive for this match will be doubled (6 points instead of 3, 2 points instead of 1).
Featured Prediction - Each week there will be a random prediction selected by myself. This can vary from the 1st goalscorer of a selected match, or the total attendance of a match etc. The points for this will vary however the general format will be 5 points if you predict correctly and 3 points if you nearly get the prediction correct (this will be made clear each week).
Predict Your Score - When you submit your predictions you will be asked to predict how many points you think you will score for that week. There will be 3 points awarded for any correct prediction.
League Winners Predictions:
When you register for this site, you will be asked to enter who you think will win the Premiership, the Championship, League 1 and League 2. Points will be awarded at the end of the season as follows:
5 points if your selected team finishes as champions.
3 points if your selected team finishes as runners-up or receives automatic promotion.
1 point if your team (a) Gets promoted via the Play-Offs (Championship, League 1 & 2) or (b) Qualifies for the Champions League (Premiership).
As mentioned earlier all points will be awarded based on the final score at 90 minutes. At no point will extra time be included in any predictions.
Submitting Your Predictions:
Each week (normally Sunday's) the website will be updated with last weeks points, the latest news, tables and next weeks predictions. All you have to do is submit your predictions via the online forms found in the Predictions section. The games will take place on Saturday's and Sunday's therefore the deadline for submitting your predictions will be the Friday before at Midnight.
Failure To Submit Predictions:
If you are unable to submit any predictions for certain weeks (due to holiday etc) then you have 2 options.
1).You can submit predictions 'blind' (i.e. submit some random 2-1, 0-2 etc) and hope they fit in with the matches.
2). Predict the results for all games taking place in your absence (Premiership, Championship, League 1, 2 and Conference) and e-mail them to me. I will then take your Predictions from there. If you use either of these options then you will still be eligible for all points including any double point awards.
To send your predictions manually please e-mail them to: predictions@predictascore.com
If nothing is received then no scores will be inputted for you and therefore no points gained for the weeks in your absence.
Incorrect or Postponed predictions:
In the event that any match has been entered in the predictions incorrectly (i.e. Incorrect teams put together) or in the evens that a prediction match is abandoned, postponed or re-arranged the prediction will be declared Null and Void and no points will be awarded to any player.
Absent Competitors:
Provided a player has already paid for his/her registration then they will remain in the competition all season. If they haven't paid their registration and haven't submitted any predictions for 4 weeks then they will be removed. Their place will then become available for any new players.
Awards:
There will be an Overall Table which runs for the whole of the football season and a Monthly Table which runs for every calender month of the football season. For the Monthly Table, at the end of the month there is a Manager of the Month and Runner Up Award. There will also be other awards for the Highest Weekly Score of the Season. Depending on the number of players taking part this season it is hoped that the majority of awards will receive cash prizes. All awards take pride of place in the Hall of Fame. However, with every good thing, there's a bad thing and for the less successful players there is also a Hall of Shame. Awards found in here included Lowest Weekly Scores and Poorest Manager of the Month.
Positions in the Table:
The tables work on a league base format. In the event that players are level on points the following categories will be used to decide who is above the other:
If points are equal - The players with the most correct scores.
If most correct scores are equal - The player with the most correct results.
If most correct results are equal - The player with the highest previous weeks score.
If players still cannot be separated then alphabetically by first name then surname will be used.
